My name is Timothy Deer (like the animal, not the tractor). I’m a Boston-based writer/reader/runner/yogi/dancer/etc.
I’m a graduate of GrubStreet’s Novel Incubator (a yearlong MFA-level program focused on revision). During the Incubator, I heavily revised a novel-length project (which I sometimes call The Folly of Harvest but other times A Short Chorus Boy): the story of Mat Cox, a very good dancer who takes a very bad job in a mysterious show staged at an abandoned shopping center. The first chapter was published in Embark literary journal.
When not toiling away on longer projects, I like to write about my city misadventures (including one with Candace Bushnell) and Broadway grosses. I had a short piece published in the New York Times (Just a Bite), which was featured in their “New York Today” newsletter. When not writing, I’m usually reading.
